More than a thousand people visited the 9th edition of the Days of Jewish Culture in Olomouc, organized by the Olomouc Museum of Art. According to festival director Alexandr Jeništa was one of the most successful years.
“Focusing on the female subject has emerged as the carrier, blending the various items of the program is really successful and attendance was great,” summed ending festival Jeništa.
For a great experience Jeništa described the meeting with pilot Hugo Marom and praised the trip to Úsov. “Guided tours of the cemetery and synagogue led by Jaroslav Achab Haidler, who was able to link the cultural roots of the past with contemporary issues,” said Jeništa.
This year was successful and theater performances Postcard from Anatevka Holešov theater D6K. Dernier appreciated by the audience standing ovation. Among the special guests this year was also a photographer Jindřich Štreit or political scientist and Member of the Israeli Parliament Aliza Lavie.
The tenth edition of Days of Jewish Culture in Olomouc will be held in October next year. The main topic will be the centenary of the Olomouc synagogue. “We will introduce a synagogue after a religious and social point of view and with its economic functions and will also address the architecture of synagogues,” suggested Jeništa.
