It is the only one of its kind in the whole Czech Republic and since June it is available to visitors to the exhibition. Speech is about the unique model of the temple of Gods grave in Jerusalem. It comes from the collections of the Salm-Reifenscheid from the castle in Rájc nad Svitavou, and its uniqueness underlines the fact that the whole model can be decomposed.
“This model is a temple that was built on Golgotha after the conquest of Jerusalem by the crusaders in 1099 over an older early Christian chapel containing a rock tomb where the tradition was buried by Christ. At the same time, the model documents the shape of the temple after a major reconstruction in the middle of the 16th century, even before the great fire in the early 19th century, when a part of the temple was destroyed and newly completed, “says curator of the exhibition Helena Zápalková.
The miniatures of the temple and chapel of Gods grave, as well as other buildings connected with Christs life and passion, were made in the 17th and 18th centuries in the Christian communities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. These were the exclusive souvenirs the pilgrims brought to Europe. Models were mostly made of olive wood and inlaid with pearls and ivory.

“In most cases, these models are detachable to individual parts, allowing them to be seen in beautifully crafted interiors. They could also be used to repeatedly commemorate and re-use the pilgrimage, “Zápalková explained.
The Exhibition In The Owl, you are more and more unique to your visitors. “The exhibition has managed to get truly exceptional works of art borrowed from a variety of collections, religious and private property. Many are presented here for the first time, “says Helena Zápalková.
The exhibits come mainly from the late Middle Ages, but the authors have also intentionally enriched the installation with several carefully selected works not only from the Baroque era, but also from the 20th century.
