Music by the French composer JM Hotteterre started on Thursday, October 1 opening of the exhibition of “graphic genius of Italian baroque” Giovanni Battista Piranesi. A representative selection of works by one of the most important artists of the 18th century will see in the Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum until January 10, 2016.
„The exhibition Piranesi, we were interested in for many years. Thanks to the cooperation with the National Gallery in Prague and through the use of rich graphical collection of collections Archbishop Kromeriz we finally succeeded,“ he said at the opening ceremony the director of the Olomouc Museum of Art Michal Soukup.
The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Italian ambassador Aldo Amati, who was represented at yesterdays opening of the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague Giovanni Scioli. He wished Olomouc exhibition a success comparable to the premiere, organized by the National Gallery at the turn of this year. As pointed out by the curator of the exhibition in Prague Blanka Kubíková, even though the premiere was greater number of exhibits, visitors Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum will see a truly representative selection of works by Piranesi. „In addition, in Olomouc are exposed to other prints, for example, imagine two albums from Kroměříže, so this is largely a different project,“ added Helena Zápalková – curator of the exhibition in Olomouc.
