6 February – 18 May 2014
Museum of Modern Art | Triple Nave
A retrospective of the king of Czech comics. The exhibition will present Kája Saudek (*1935) not only as the author of legendary comics (Joey the Hippie; Com-comics; Muriel and Angels; Muriel and the Orange Death; Lips Tullian; etc.), but also as a unique artist successfully moving between work for film (Who Wants to Kill Jessie?; Four Murders are Enough, Darling) and television (Wide Open Windows of the Universe; Swallow), commercial art (music and film posters), illustration, and free painting. Saudeks peak works from the 60s and 70s provide a mixture of the atmosphere of the time and his extremely imposing artistic style, which is even unique in the global context. The largest exhibition of Kaja Saudek so far, accompanied by a rich programme, ispresented in collaboration with the Mona Lisa Gallery and Arbor Vitae publishing house which has, on this occasion, published the second edition of a monograph on the artists life and work.
